Family, food and football – this is why Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays. There’s always plenty of turkey at my parents’ house, along with sides, wine and about six different desserts. Everything is delicious and there’s so much food we usually eat the leftovers for lunch AND dinner the next day. So it’s not surprising that we throw the rest in the freezer and start looking for new flavors on Saturday. Where do you eat when you’re tired of turkey? Do you crave tacos, sushi, dim sum or something else? The folks at Visit Oakland asked me to contribute to their new blog, Oakland Ray, and that’s my first assignment: Where To Eat When You’re Tired of Turkey. But I need your help! Please leave suggestions in the comments, and next week, you can vote for your favorites. Then, I’ll use your ideas when I choose the restaurants for the post.
So, where do YOU eat when you’re tired of turkey?

Hi Christina. It takes a while before I get tired of dreaming up ways to use up Thanksgiving leftovers, but when I do I might be likely to turn to a different flavor palate. I love the mu shu vegetable and pot stickers at hole-in-the-wall Great Wall on College Ave near Claremont. And you may have seen that Sukho Thai has opened at the site of the old Pearl of Siam, also on College Ave. It’s the same family as Thai Delights in Berkeley. They’re super friendly and I love that they offer a selection of organic dishes. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
Hi Christina,
Our family goes for crab the Saturday after Thanksgiving. Dungeness, of course. We just have a big old crab feed with garlic bread and a tossed salad with lemon dressing.
Some years the fisherfolk haven’t yet signed contracts, so pizza is our second go-to. Homemade is best, although going out with friends is always fun, too.
Mmmmm…sounds good. Thanks, Jennie!
What a great tradition! Where do you go out for pizza, Joyce?
