The sisters that opened Bowl’d Korean Rice Bar in Albany and Spoon Korean Bistro in Berkeley just added an Oakland restaurant to their growing empire.  Bowl’d BBQ Korean Stone Grill opened about a week and a half ago on Telegraph Avenue. I was invited to check it out so I met a friend for dinner last week.  The menu was long and overwhelming but the server helped us us out with some suggestions.  We started with a tart Green Apple Soujou Cocktail ($6), a fluffy Seafood Savory Pancake ($9) and Korean Fried Chicken ($16), which was crispy, gooey but so rich but I could only eat one. The Bibimbop ($14) was a huge rice bowl with spinach, mushrooms, julienned carrots, bean sprouts, veggies, and a sunny side up egg. We ordered it with Spicy Pork and Mixed Grain (barley, sweet brown rice, red rice, black rice) and the server mixed it all up tableside. The Thinly-Sliced Ribeye marinated in soy sauce, sesame oil, garlic and onion ($25) was probably my favorite dish. The meat was flavorful and tender and the leftovers were fantastic. I should also mention that the Banchans, or side dishes that came with the meal were pretty exciting for pickle lovers like us. Our meal was really satisfying and we can’t wait to go back to try the Hot Pot.
