Aunt Mary’s Cafe has been serving breakfast and lunch for years and they just added dinner (and beer and wine) last week.  Named after the owner’s aunt, they serve “creative revisions of American comfort food using fresh local ingredients and from sustainable sources, with an emphasis on Southern, Southwestern and Texas cuisine.”  Dinner was recently added, and with dishes like Fried Cheese Grits Sticks $5, Meatloaf and Plum Ketchup $14, it looks like comfort food is still the focus.  Samuel Smith Organic Pale Ale and Nut Brown are on the menu ($4), as well as Robert Mondavi Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc ($5.50 for a glass and $20 for a bottle).

4307 Telegraph Ave, Oakland

510-601-9227

Dinner: Thurs – Sat, 5:30 – 9pm
