Tasting Menu with Cocktail Pairing at Hopscotch

According to Jenny Schwarz, Hopscotch co-owner/beverage director, “Pairing cocktails with food can be challenging, but when done well, it can be uniquely satisfying.” On Thursday, the restaurant will offer a casual 5-course Chef’s Tasting Menu with Cocktail Pairing. This dinner sounds delicious, and if I didn’t already have plans, I would probably be there. Here’s the menu:

Bar Snack

Fried Okra, Wasabi and Sesame Salt

Aperitif: Thorn & Thistle – Beefeater Gin, Imbue Petal & Thorn Vermouth, Tempus Fugit Creme de Violette, Sparkling Rose

1st Course

Smoked Hamachi, Avocado, Bresaola

Cocktail: A Checkered Past – Hakushu Japanese Whiskey, Laird’s Apple Jack Brandy, Egg White, Yuzu, Pineapple Gomme

2nd Course

Hopscotch Wings, Panko Oysters, Blue Cheese

Cocktail: Punsch in the Gut – El Dorado 5 yr Rum, Rhum JM Agricole Rhum, Batavia Arrack, bitters, lemon, Green Tea, Koshiikari Echigo Rice Beer

3rd Course

Devil’s Gulch Ranch Porchetta, Braised Chickpeas, Pea Shoots, Barrel Aged Cocktail Pan Sauce

House Barrel Aged Cocktail – You’ll have to come to find out!

Dessert

Boozy S’mores Sundae
