Cafe Santana is coming to the Laurel

When I was walking on MacArthur one day, I noticed that my neighborhood is getting a new coffee shop.  Cafe Santana is taking over the old Laurel Bookstore space.  With a little research, I learned that they offer coffee beans at some local markets and cafes and they’ve been popping up at the Jack London Farmer’s Market on every Sunday.  With this permanent location, customers will be able to get their freshly roasted caffeine fix everyday.  I’ve never tasted it, but the coffee sounds pretty amazing.

Richard Santana has been roasting coffee for over 10 years.  His passion for fresh roasted coffee started after reading an article on the benefits of home roasting using a hot air popcorn maker.  To his dismay, he found it worked exceptionally well.  After two years and several popcorn makers, he decided to hone his skills using the San Franciscan Artisan Roaster manufactured by  Coffee Per Inc.  Now, he shares his love for roasting by offering coffee to markets throughout the bay area.

Our mission is simple; to provide the best and freshest coffee.

We do this by roasting on site and offering fresh coffee, not only by the pound, but by the cup as well.

Once you have tasted it, you will know.

They recently launched an Indiegogo crowd funding campaign to cover some of the opening costs.  I watched the video and they seem like really nice people, so you might want to consider donating.  They also live in the Laurel and the shop will be close to their house.  I’m not a serious coffee drinker, but I can’t wait to meet and congratulate them on the new shop.
