Vegetarian Lunch Ideas: Oasis Grill

Oakland’s Oasis Grill (not to be confused with restaurants of the same name in Berkeley and SF) is a Middle Eastern restaurant on Grand Avenue.  The owners of Oasis Food Market on Telegraph Ave. opened a second location about four months ago.  I stopped by the same day we were going to all-you-can-eat Korean BBQ.

What should I get?

So in anticipation of all that meat, I decided to order the Veggie Combo (hummus, baba ganoush, tabbouleh, 2 dolmas, 2 falafel, $8.99).

And I’m glad I did.  This is a great option if you’re looking for vegetarian lunch ideas – everything was made in house and everything was delicious.

The silky hummus, velvety baba ganoush, fresh tabbouleh, tender dolmas and warm pitas were all impressive, but the falafel was definitely the stand-out.

The crust was incredibly crunchy and the inside was as fluffy as a cloud.  They gave me two extra falafels and I devoured the entire plate.

I want to try the shawarma when I go back, but my first experience was so amazing it would be hard for me NOT to order the Veggie Combo.
