Two more bars are open in Oakland:

The owners are Asian American, but the name of their new bar “plays upon and reinforces racist and sexist stereotypes about Asian women.”  Even with the controversy, Geisha is now open.  According to Oakland Trib’s Night Owl, they plan to serve lunch and dinner from noon to 10 pm, and discounted cocktails and appetizers during happy hour from 4 to 7 pm.

Tamarindo had been planning to expand into the space next door with a Tequila bar, and now Inside Scoop reports it’s open. Owned by Alfonso Dominguez, the goal is to bring awareness about the world of tequila through one ounce pours and handcrafted cocktails (like a tequila Manhattan).

Can you believe another bar is expected to open in the next week or two?  It’s a nice space in Oakland with specialty cocktails, but I’m not supposed to spill the beans until the official grand opening.  Stay tuned…
