Thirsty – A New Bar with a Meat Market

Bar Dogwood got approval from the city last May, and it just opened on Thursday. It’s basically a bar with a meat counter stocked with locally sourced, hormone-free meat. Does this means you can simultaneously order meat by the pound, sip on a cocktail and snack on salumi and cheese?  Hmm…I’m intrigued.  Hours are Mon – Sat from 5pm – 2am.

It’s hard to believe it’s already been a year since SR24 opened.  As the restaurant goes into its second year, the staff is starting a series of wine maker dinners.  Carl Sutton of Sutton Cellars will be the first guest of honor and Chef Josh Woodall’s 4 course prix fixe menu is designed to complement the local wines:
Amuse: Goat Cheese and Spring Onion Fritter, Smoked Tomato Sauce, Toasted Almonds
1st Course: Mustard Crusted Piedmontese Beef Carpaccio, Arugula, Parmesan, Sweet Garlic Vinaigrette
2nd Course: Fried Green Tomatoes, Dungeness Crab, Fresno Chile, Peppercress
3rd Course: Crispy Sonoma Duck Leg Confit, Sweet Corn Spoonbread, Grilled Escarole, Cherry Duck Jus, Bbq carignane
4th Course: Bread Pudding French Toast, Blackberries, Cinnamon Mousse, Citrus Maple Syrup
