Remember when I went on the Retro Cocktail Tour a couple weeks ago? Well, when I heard about Localite’s Pork Tour, I couldn’t miss the opportunity to check out the soft launch. We walked through Old Oakland and Chinatown, crossing from one neighborhood to the other and back again. We learned about the complex history through seven tastes (Bread of Life, Ratto’s, Battambang, La Borinqueña, Rosamunde, Shan Dong and Borgo Italia) and several cultures were represented in those few blocks: Italian, Cambodian, Mexican, and Chinese. I learned my lesson and purposely didn’t eat beforehand so I could fully take advantage of the tour. But by the end of the three hours, I was in a pork coma – so stuffed I didn’t even eat dinner that night. In fact, I think I just ate vegetables the next day. Oh yeah…nevermind. I had bacon for breakfast.
